The CompactClean BWMS is available in an ATEX and IECEx certified version with flowrates from 250 m³/hr, making installation in hazardous zones on board oil or/and chemical tankers possible.

The EX certification notation is:

and is based on the following components:

     BWMS approved for installation in hazardous zone

“The system itself is approved for installation in the Hazardous Zone (zone 1) whereas the Main Electrical Panel and Frequency converter for the backflush pump must be installed in the Safe Zone. The distance between the system and Main Electrical Panel can be up to 100 m / 328 ft.”
