DESMI Foundry in China Receives Certification

February 2017

We did not apply for it, but are very pleased that the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology of the People’s Republic of China has recognized our facility “as an example to follow” and given DESMI’s new foundry in Xuancheng a certification followed by a cheque for 70,000 RMB.

We are very pleased with the acknowledgement from the Chinese Ministry”, says Henrik Sørensen, Group CEO. “Since the establishment of the foundry in October 2011, we have worked very dedicatedly on developing and building our foundry in China to meet high standards. For every step we have taken, we have prioritized sustainability, the working environment of our employees, the care for the local environment, quality of products etc. and the Ministry has now acknowledged our efforts”.

The certificate granted is given on the basis of the following:

  • Strict compliance with local protection regulation
  • Local investment and local market development
  • Good and high level quality products
  • Safety and site environment for employees

The DESMI Foundry operates with high-end alloys in bronze and stainless steel like NiAlBz and Super Duplex and produces mainly pump casings and parts for the DESMI group located around the world at more than 30 locations in 17 different countries.

Recently the foundry has invested in a Phenolic Resin System, a very environmentally friendly foundry material based on water and with very low smell emission, which is replacing the Furan resin system. At the same time, DESMI has also updated the entire production facilities to reduce emission in general from the foundry.

We have high expectations for the foundry in the years to come and we will continuously make sure we have a foundry of high standard, as we believe our values and a clean and orderly facility will also on the longer term be the best seen from a business point of view”, concludes Henrik Sørensen.
