AquaDose UV System Approved by NVI

October 2025

The Norwegian Veterinary Institute (NVI) has officially approved DESMI’s AquaDose UV system, confirming full compliance with Norway’s highest standards for water disinfection in aquaculture.

With a capacity of up to 10,000 m³/h, the newly certified unit represents one of the largest UV systems ever designed and built to meet NVI requirements.

What does the NVI approval mean?

NVI approval confirms that the AquaDose UV system meets the strict biological and technical criteria required for aquaculture operations in Norway. The certification verifies that the system consistently delivers a validated UV dose capable of inactivating harmful microorganisms and pathogens under real operating conditions.

For fish farmers, designers, and operators, this provides official assurance that the AquaDose UV system supports compliance with national biosecurity requirements, ensuring reliable water quality and fish health.

Norway applies some of the world’s most rigorous testing and approval procedures for aquaculture equipment, NVI certification also serves as a strong international benchmark, demonstrating that AquaDose meets the highest expectations for performance, safety, and reliability in advanced fish-farming systems.

About the AquaDose UV System

The AquaDose UV system is engineered for recirculating aquaculture systems (RAS), where stable and efficient water disinfection is essential to fish health and productivity. The system eliminates pathogens, bacteria, and viruses without the use of chemicals, helping maintain clean and safe water environments.

Constructed from Super Duplex or Nickel-Alu-Bronze materials, AquaDose is designed to withstand humidity, salinity, and high-corrosion conditions. Its medium-pressure UV lamps and CFD-optimized chamber ensure uniform dose distribution, while automatic dose control and energy-saving lamp dimming optimize efficiency.

Combined with IoT monitoring and alarm notifications, AquaDose delivers both operational reliability and digital transparency - making it a trusted solution for land-based and large-scale aquaculture facilities.
