New Oil Spill Response Partnership in Uganda

New Oil Spill Response Partnership in Uganda

New partnership between DESMI and waste management firm Epsilon Ltd. ready to reduce potential devastating oil spillage in Uganda.

The partnership was officially launched in October at the residence of the Danish Ambassador in Uganda, Mogens Pedersen with participation of representatives from both the private and public sector of Uganda.

At the event, The Danish ambassador described Danish companies as being in the absolute forefront when it comes to environmental and green technology and through this new partnership, Epsilon will be able provide modern oil spill equipment as well as specialized training to the oil sector in Uganda.
Epsilon is licensed by the National Environment Management Authority to transport, store and dispose of hazardous and non-hazardous waste.
With increasing activities in other regions of Africa, DESMI is bringing a lot of experience to the table:

“We believe that Africa is a growth area. I don’t think it is difficult to do business in Africa; you just have to do it with the right people and we believe Epsilon is the right group of People, who have the technical know-how, expertise and integrity”, said Henrik Knudsen, CEO of DESM Ro-Clean A/S.
The new partnership puts Epsilon in the centre of handling oil spillages for oil companies and they can now contact Epsilon for emergency service in case of spillages.

According to Henrik Knudsen, they have a less-than-24-hour response timeline, which can reduce the adverse effects of oil spillages.
The Danish Embassy are working to create and strengthen mutually beneficial partnerships between Danish and Ugandan companies and one of the latest examples is the new partnership between DESMI – a global company with +40 years of expertise in oil spill management and clean-up and Ugandan waste management firm Epsilon Ltd.
