IMO Training for African Agents

Early February DESMI Africa organized IMO level 1 responders training for some agents at our premises in Odense, Denmark.

The intention of the training was to enhance our response capability within the region and both agents from Cameroon and Uganda were attending.

Besides live deployment of DESMI booms and skimmers, the training included:

  • Health and safety
  • Environmental sensitivity and impacts
  • Response organizations’ and control strategies
  • Containment booms
  • Failure of containment booms
  • Oil boom selection
  • Deployment and configuration of containment booms
  • Recovery devices
  • Deployment and operation of skimmers
  • Use of dispersants
  • New technologies
  • Waste management
  • Shoreline cleanup
  • Cleaning, maintenance and storage of equipment
