The RO-SKIM is a special section of RO-BOOM that has been fitted with a weir and a DESMI DOP-250 DUAL, DESMI DOP 200 DUAL or DESMI DOP 160 pump.

This offers some unique advantages over independent skimmer and boom configurations.
The weir entry is built into the highly buoyant boom system, the weir therefore closely follows the wave movements. The weir is ideally placed for collection of the oil that is building up against the face of the RO-BOOM. The skimming depth can be remotely adjusted.
The weight of the pump is supported by the floating boom, in addition the hydraulic and discharge hoses can be strapped to the back of the boom avoiding loose hoses in the water.
One or several RO-SKIM units can be coupled together in one long boom assembly offering a high recovery rate - each DESMI DOP250 pump has a capacity of 100 to 125 m3/h. Alternatively a single RO-SKIM can be fitted into a side sweep arrangement such as the RO-SWEEP. |
